Dairy infrastructure development index: measuring regional inequalities acrossdistricts of Gujarat

Infrastructure development is critical to sustain and attain optimum output from the rapidly growing Indian dairy sector. The existing studies indicate need improve infrastructure; however, varies across regions. This study analyses disparity in infrastructure of one highly progressive State – Gujarat - using a Principal Component Approach (PCA). results that there exists nearly 54% facility among districts Gujarat. index value 0.04 for Dang 0.66 Banaskantha findings pointed towards higher association existence farmer collectives state. Development indicators be prioritized improving level low performing are also highlighted. suggests inequalities can reduced by supporting strengthening already institutions like milk cooperatives producer companies or incentivizing groups create one.
